Dog & Cat

from Down Home Cookin' by Kent McDaniel

/

about

Don't know what. to say about this one. The music is traditional country. The lyrics are whimsical and maybe a little offbeat. I love it.

lyrics

Early in the morning as the day is dawning
Dog's on the floor by the bed
and that cat is purring in my ear, saying
kitty needs to be fed

Chorus:
Dog & cat & cat & dog & cat &
dog & cat and dog & cat & dog & cat
Dog & cat & cat & dog & cat &
dog & cat & dog

Later in the evening me & the wife are sleeping
cat's scratching on the side of the bed
and we gotta be careful when we go to pee
not to step on the old dog's head

Chorus

friends and neighbors let's give praise & glory
to that good ole dog & cat
when they stretch and lay their paws upon you
hallelujah, you sure been blessed

chorus

(Dan Marsh, who wrote this tune, has very kindly allowed me do take a very few tiny liberties with lyrics)

about

Kent McDaniel Chicago, Illinois

First band Kent ever saw was Salty Gamblin & The Mudcat Band. Spring Fest, his 5th grade year. They walked out, plugged in, looked at everybody. Had electric guitar, bass, & drums--& Salty on acoustic & vocals. Bam, they tore into "I Saw The Light." Chills shot up & down Kent's body.
He saved up & got a Gibson Melody Maker. Played & sang ever since. Never means to stop.
